Volunteer Opportunity
You like to bring people together around a great cause. You want to fight hunger in Massachusetts. You enjoy walking. You're familiar with web-based communications and networking. And you have about two to four hours a week available to volunteer. If this sounds like you, consider volunteering as the Team Pernet Coordinator for Project Bread's Walk for Hunger. Details:
- The annual Walk for Hunger sponsored by Project Bread will take place on Sunday, May 1, in Boston.
- Each year "Team Pernet" participates this walk that attracts over 40,000 walkers and raises up to $4 million in a single day, to support hunger relief efforts throughout the Commonwealth.
- Pernet receives grants from Project Bread, to support our food pantry.
- We need a coordinator to recruit volunteers for our Walk team, find sponsors for our team t-shirts, and organize the logistics for the actual day of the walk.

Despite drastic cuts in government-supported programs Pernet has endured and in some cases even thrived because of individual contributions and volunteer support. Volunteers continue to be the lifeblood of the work we do here. Most encouraging has been the number of people who have “come back” to Pernet after receiving our help at another time in their lives. They are the living proof of the good work that we do. Fifty three years ago, the Little Sisters of the Assumption taught us the lessons of nurturing and caring for families by assisting with all their needs. That mission of service remains strong today, not only within the Pernet organization but also through the many helping hands that contribute to our work. We thank you and ask that you continue to make generous contributions of time and resources that enable Pernet Family Health Service to maintain its vital role in the community.

We have created a Wish List of items we at Pernet would love to receive from individuals and businesses who would like to contribute. It is our hope that when offices, groups, or individuals update equipment and technology they may wish to donate the used items to charitable organizations such as ourselves.
