PERNET FAMILY HEALTH SERVICE, Inc.
Position: Youth Program Coordinator
Department: Family & Community Development
Reports to: Executive Director
Shift: Daytime; occasional evening and weekend hours
Hours: Full-time

Job Summary:
The Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of Pernet Family Health Service's youth program by managing the Homework Club, the Youth Program, the Summer Jobs program and Family nights including recruiting and supervising volunteers from colleges, high schools and community members to help mentor and tutor the youth.  The Coordinator will provide youth and families with opportunities for recreation, socialization, enrichment and mentoring, within the context of Pernet Family Health Service's mission of supporting the physical, social, psychological and spiritual development of individuals and families.  The goal is to build neighborhood leadership among youth and families in the community and increase connection in the neighborhood.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day implementation of all Youth Activities including, but not limited to, recreational activities, youth and teen services, leadership training academy for families and neighborhood residents.
- Serve as a role model for youth and families.
- Recruit and register youth and families for programs through clinical caseloads and community involvement.
- Recruit and supervise volunteers from local colleges to serve as mentors and aides.
- Develop positive working relationships with the parents and teachers of youth regarding academic and social profiles.
- Implement record keeping to track indicators and goals of programs for internal tracking and grant proposals.
- Regular check-ins with the position's supervisor to discuss progress. issues and challenges, in order to ensure a well-run program.
- Organize and plan enrichment field trips for youth.
- Engage youth in creating their "safe place" to relax, access academic assistance and participate in social and recreational activities.
- Evaluate program components with member and volunteer input.
- Manage budget with approval of the Executive Director.
- Keep program space clean and in order after the program.
- Recruit, interview and hire youth for the summer program.
- Participate in the early stages of youth jobs funding for the state in collaboration with the Central Youth Jobs Coalition.
- Support in transporting youth and families to and from field trips and family outings in van.
- Coordinate with community partners in enhancing all programs.
- Supervising the youth in the day-to-day running of the summer program.


Additional Responsibilities:
- Add additional support to other events and programs run through Family and Community Development.
- Attends all staff meetings and trainings unless excused by supervisor.
- Uses all means of agency communications including email, mail (mailbox), and phone (voicemail) to remain well-informed of agency activities and client needs.
- Maintains confidentiality according to agency policy.
- Meets with supervisor regularly.


Minimum requirements:
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The desire to work with diverse constituencies.
- Ability to handle multiple takes simultaneously.
- Ability to see the big picture without losing sight of the details.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Professional and mature.
- BA/BS or higher is preferred
- 18 years of age or older
- A valid driver's license
