Maternal & Child Nursing Program
Certified Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Home Visiting Program
Nurses at Pernet provide in-home care and education to support families who are postpartum and/or parenting newborns. Through the Certified MCH Program, families receive weight checks for infants, maternal blood pressure monitoring, postpartum depression (PPD) screening, and individualized support.
Families are referred by hospitals or primary care providers. After an initial screening visit, nurses assess whether additional visits are needed. If so, certified visits are scheduled based on the family’s needs.
Services may include maternal and infant vital signs, newborn growth monitoring, feeding support, and postpartum education. Lactation support is provided by a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), with referrals to an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) as needed.
Staffing includes one full-time RN/CLC. Visits last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Most cases remain open for one month or more, with visit frequency ranging from 1 to 4 times per month.
Limitations: No wound care, oxygen, or NG tube management.
For Worcester residents only. For more information, please contact us or call 508-755-1228 Ext. 260.
